Kiran Ahuwahlia - Aam Zameem/Common Ground

Indian born Kiran Ahluwalia has just launched her new CD, Aam Zameen/Common Ground. Although the Sahara desert is thousands of miles from Kiran’s home terrain and they share no physical common ground, she has created a unique musical territory enjoining the two. Having previously merged her music with sounds as diverse as Portuguese fado and Celtic fiddle, Kiran embraced her love of Saharan desert blues and collaborated on the new album with two Tuareg  groups from West Afric; the legendary Tinariwen and fellow tribesmen Terakaft. On the track Mustt Mustt they enfuse Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan’s melody and the traditional lyrics with desert blues.
